GAS PIPING • UNDERGROUND GAS LINES • SERVICE UPGRADES • METER COORDINATION

Gas line installation, underground gas piping & meter coordination in Toronto and the GTA.

DAVESDUCTS installs, modifies and upgrades natural-gas and propane piping for residential, commercial and industrial applications — including interior distribution, exterior gas lines, underground gas piping, equipment connections, manifolds and coordination of applicable gas-meter or service requirements.

COMPLETE GAS PIPING

New gas lines, relocations, upgrades and distribution systems.

A gas-line project should be designed around the connected equipment, piping route, available supply and future serviceability — not simply around the size of the appliance connection.

New Gas Lines

Install new natural-gas or propane piping for applicable appliances, equipment and mechanical systems.

Gas Line Relocation

Relocate applicable gas piping when equipment moves or renovations change the mechanical layout.

Gas Line Upgrades

Evaluate and upgrade applicable piping where additional connected load or equipment changes require greater capacity.

Gas Manifolds

Design organized distribution and manifold arrangements for appropriate custom-home, commercial and multi-appliance projects.

Equipment Connections

Provide applicable shutoffs, final connections and related gas piping for the equipment being installed.

Testing & Commissioning

Complete applicable testing and verification associated with the gas piping work and connected equipment.

UNDERGROUND GAS LINES

Underground natural-gas and propane piping for outdoor equipment and detached spaces.

When the equipment is away from the building, an underground gas-line route can provide a clean permanent connection without running exposed piping across the property. DAVESDUCTS can plan and install applicable underground gas piping as part of the overall gas system.

Pool Heaters

Underground piping can supply pool-equipment areas located away from the house while accounting for the heater’s gas demand and the property’s other connected loads.

Outdoor Kitchens & BBQs

Plan permanent gas service to outdoor cooking areas, built-in BBQs and other applicable exterior gas appliances.

Detached Garages & Workshops

Provide an appropriate underground gas route to detached structures requiring gas-fired heating or other approved equipment.

Backup Generators

Where the generator location requires it, underground gas piping can form part of the fuel-supply route to the equipment.

Outdoor Fire Features

Applicable permanent gas piping can be planned for approved outdoor fireplaces, fire features and similar equipment.

Commercial / Industrial Equipment

Underground distribution can also be evaluated for applicable detached equipment, buildings and site-specific commercial or industrial applications.

UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION

The buried portion needs to be planned before the trench is closed.

Underground gas piping requires an approved piping system and an installation appropriate to the site and applicable requirements. The route, transitions, protection, burial conditions and inspection/testing sequence should be determined before backfilling.

Route Planning

Plan the gas-line route around the equipment location, building entrances, landscaping, hardscaping and other known site conditions.

Approved Underground Piping

Use piping, fittings, transitions and protection appropriate and approved for the specific underground gas application.

Trenching Coordination

Coordinate the required trench and excavation scope before installation. The exact excavation responsibility can be defined in the project estimate.

Protection & Identification

Provide applicable protection and identification for the buried gas system according to the approved piping system and installation requirements.

Testing / Inspection

Complete applicable gas-piping testing and required inspection steps before concealed work is finalized.

Final Equipment Connection

Transition from the underground system to the equipment using the appropriate above-ground piping, shutoff and connection arrangement.

GAS LINE SIZING

Pipe size is determined by the system — not just the appliance connection.

Gas piping must be capable of supplying the connected equipment under the applicable design conditions. A 3/4-inch connection on an appliance does not automatically mean that a 3/4-inch line is appropriate for the entire run.

Connected Load

Consider the input of the new equipment together with the other gas appliances supplied by the relevant piping system.

Length & Configuration

Available capacity is affected by piping length, material, size, fittings and the design of the distribution system.

Available Supply

The building’s gas service, meter and pressure arrangement must be appropriate for the connected load and system design.

METER & SERVICE COORDINATION

Adding equipment can affect more than the pipe inside the building.

A pool heater, generator, tankless water heater, boiler or larger mechanical project can materially increase the property’s connected gas load. DAVESDUCTS can review the planned equipment and coordinate applicable meter or gas-service requirements as part of the project.

Load Review

Compile the applicable existing and proposed gas-fired equipment so the overall connected load can be evaluated.

Contractor Coordination

Provide the project information required from the mechanical/gas contractor and coordinate the applicable process.

Utility-Controlled Work

The gas utility determines its own final requirements, approvals, scheduling and utility-owned meter/service work.

IMPORTANT

DAVESDUCTS can coordinate the meter process; the gas utility controls its service and meter.

Final utility requirements, approval, scheduling, meter availability and utility-owned service work remain subject to the serving gas utility.
