COMPONENT CLEANING

TUNE-UP VS. CLEANING

Maintenance and cleaning are related, but they are not the same service.

A furnace or air-conditioning tune-up / maintenance visit
evaluates equipment condition and operation. It can include cleaning of
routine accessible components when appropriate to the maintenance scope.

Component cleaning is more focused. If a blower wheel,
evaporator coil or another HVAC component is materially impacted with
debris, additional access, disassembly or cleaning work may be required.

AIR DUCT CLEANING?

The HVAC system should be considered as a complete air stream.

During an HVAC-system cleaning project, the condition of accessible
air-handling components matters too. Duct cleaning alone does not remove
debris that is physically attached to a dirty blower wheel or evaporator coil.

How often should a furnace be maintained?

Many equipment manufacturers recommend regular professional maintenance.
The appropriate interval should also follow the specific manufacturer’s
instructions for your equipment. DAVESDUCTS generally recommends scheduling
heating maintenance before the heating season.

How often should central air conditioning be maintained?

Regular maintenance can help identify dirty components, drainage issues,
electrical concerns and abnormal operation. We recommend arranging AC
maintenance before the cooling season and following the equipment
manufacturer’s maintenance requirements.

Does a furnace tune-up include blower cleaning?

Routine furnace maintenance includes inspection of the blower and
blower/motor compartment. Cleaning may be performed as required within the
maintenance scope, but a heavily impacted blower assembly can require
additional cleaning work or access.

Does an AC tune-up include evaporator-coil cleaning?

Accessible coil surfaces are inspected during maintenance and may be cleaned
as applicable to the service scope. Coil condition, accessibility and the
cleaning method required determine whether more extensive work is necessary.

Can a dirty blower or AC coil reduce airflow?

Yes. Debris on a blower wheel or evaporator coil can restrict airflow or
reduce component performance. Filters, duct restrictions, return-air capacity
and other system conditions can also contribute to airflow problems.

Does maintenance guarantee that my HVAC system will not break down?
