PREVENTATIVE HVAC & GAS APPLIANCE MAINTENANCE • TORONTO & THE GTA

Maintain your HVAC system before it becomes a repair call.

Professional preventative maintenance helps identify developing problems, keep equipment operating properly
and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns when you need your system most. DAVESDUCTS maintains furnaces,
air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, tankless water heaters, boilers, ductless systems and gas fireplaces.

WHY PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE?

Small problems are easier to deal with before they become big ones.

HVAC and gas-fired equipment accumulates dirt, wear and operating issues over time. Regular maintenance
gives a technician an opportunity to inspect, test and service the equipment before those conditions
contribute to poor performance or an unexpected service call.

Reduce Unexpected Breakdowns

Identify dirty components, deteriorating parts and abnormal operation before they result in a service call.

Maintain System Performance

Dirty coils, restricted filters and neglected components can reduce airflow, capacity and overall system performance.

Support Maintenance Records

Documented maintenance creates a service history for the equipment and may be useful when warranty support is required.

MAINTENANCE VS. REPAIR DIAGNOSIS

If the equipment has failed, the visit becomes a service call.

Maintenance pricing is intended for equipment that is operating and being serviced preventively.
If the equipment is not operating properly, has an active fault, will not ignite or our technician must
diagnose an equipment failure, the visit will be treated as a service call and the applicable
diagnostic/service-call rate will apply. Repairs, replacement parts and additional labour are extra
unless specifically quoted or authorized.

WHAT YOU’RE PAYING FOR

A maintenance visit is more than a quick visual check.

Most HVAC maintenance visits take approximately 1.5–2 hours, depending on the equipment, condition,
access and findings. Service time for gas fireplaces and other appliances varies by design,
accessibility and condition.

Licensed HVAC Service

Maintenance is performed by qualified technicians who can identify when a condition requires diagnosis or repair.

System-Level Checks

We evaluate applicable controls, safety devices, airflow, electrical, drains, combustion and operating conditions.

Documented Findings

Where deficiencies are found, DAVESDUCTS can explain what was observed and what corrective work should be considered.

BOILERS & HYDRONICS

Hydronic maintenance should consider the complete system.

A boiler can be operating while pumps, expansion control, zoning, combustion or system pressure are
developing problems. DAVESDUCTS can maintain, service and repair hydronic systems as part of our broader mechanical scope.

Boiler Operation

Inspect boiler operation, controls, thermostat and zoning response.

Hydronic Components

Inspect pumps, expansion tank, accessible piping, system pressure and temperature.

Combustion & Venting

Check burners, ignition, gas pressure, combustion performance and venting as applicable.

TANKLESS WATER HEATERS

Inspect and clean accessible burner components
Inspect firebox and accessible internal components
Inspect flame appearance and burner operation
Inspect accessible gas connections for signs of leakage
Check gas pressure where required
Inspect applicable safety controls and switches
Inspect accessible venting and termination
Check for deterioration, blockage or improper combustion
Perform combustion and carbon-monoxide testing as applicable
Clean accessible glass and fireplace components as applicable
Verify fireplace operation upon completion

Maintenance vs. Repair:
Gas fireplace maintenance applies to an operating appliance receiving preventative service. If the fireplace
will not ignite, repeatedly shuts down, has an active fault or requires troubleshooting, the appointment
becomes a diagnostic service call. Repairs, replacement parts and additional labour are extra.

MAINTENANCE VS. REPAIR

Maintenance is not the same as troubleshooting a malfunction.

If equipment is already failing, showing an error code, not heating, not cooling, not igniting, leaking
or repeatedly shutting down, the correct appointment may be a diagnostic service call rather than routine maintenance.

Book Maintenance When

  • The equipment is operating normally
  • You want seasonal preventative service
  • You want the equipment inspected and cleaned
  • You are maintaining a service history

Book a Service Call When

  • The equipment is not heating, cooling or igniting
  • An error code or lockout is present
  • There is water leakage or abnormal noise
  • Performance has changed significantly
  • You need fault diagnosis and repair

WHEN TO SCHEDULE

Book before peak season — not during the first extreme-weather breakdown.
