COMMERCIAL ROOFTOP UNITS • TORONTO & THE GTA
Rooftop unit service, repair, replacement and commercial HVAC support.
DAVESDUCTS provides service, diagnostics, repair, replacement and selected installation work for commercial packaged rooftop HVAC units. We work with building owners, property managers, contractors and businesses across Toronto and the GTA, including RTUs installed by other contractors.
COMMERCIAL RTU SERVICES
From a no-heat call to a complete rooftop-unit replacement.
Packaged rooftop units combine heating, cooling, ventilation and controls in one piece of equipment. DAVESDUCTS can diagnose the unit itself and also evaluate the connected ductwork, airflow and controls that affect performance.
DIAGNOSTICS
No Heat / No Cooling
Commercial troubleshooting for failed heating, cooling, controls, airflow, ignition and other rooftop-unit operating problems.
REPAIR
RTU Repairs
Repair or replace applicable electrical, gas-heating, refrigeration, fan, control and airflow components after diagnosis and approval.
REPLACEMENT
Rooftop Unit Replacement
Replace aging or failed packaged units with appropriately selected commercial equipment, including required curb, duct, gas, electrical and control modifications where included in scope.
MAINTENANCE
Preventative Maintenance
Routine inspection and maintenance of commercial rooftop HVAC equipment based on the equipment type, operating environment and site requirements.
AIRFLOW
Ductwork & Distribution
Investigate restrictions, poor distribution, damaged ductwork, inadequate returns, balancing issues and other conditions affecting delivered airflow.
PROJECTS
Commercial HVAC Upgrades
Support tenant improvements, rooftop-unit replacements, duct modifications, ventilation upgrades and selected commercial mechanical projects.
COMMON ROOFTOP UNIT PROBLEMS
Tell us what the building is doing — not just what code is flashing.
Commercial rooftop problems can involve the equipment, controls, duct system, power, gas supply, refrigeration circuit or building operating conditions. Diagnosis should come before major replacement decisions.
No Heat
Ignition, gas supply, safeties, controls, inducer operation, heat exchanger concerns or another condition preventing heating.
No Cooling
Compressor, refrigerant circuit, condenser fan, controls, economizer or airflow issues can all produce a no-cooling complaint.
Unit Trips or Locks Out
Intermittent faults may involve safeties, electrical issues, airflow, pressure conditions or control problems.
Weak Airflow
Filters, belts, blower components, coil condition, duct restrictions or balancing may be limiting delivered air.
Uneven Building Temperatures
The RTU may be operating while zoning, controls, duct layout or distribution creates hot and cold areas.
High Energy Use
Maintenance condition, controls, economizer operation, airflow, equipment age and building loads can all affect runtime and energy use.
Water Around the Unit
Condensate, drain, curb, flashing or internal leakage conditions should be differentiated before repairs are recommended.
Repeated Breakdowns
Frequent service calls may indicate an aging unit, unresolved root cause, poor installation or a replacement decision that is overdue.
DIAGNOSE THE COMPLETE SYSTEM
An RTU problem is not always an RTU problem.
A packaged rooftop unit can only perform as well as the distribution system, controls and building conditions around it. DAVESDUCTS can look beyond the cabinet when the symptom suggests a broader issue.
AIRFLOW
Supply & Return
Return-air restrictions, damaged ductwork, undersized trunks, closed dampers and poor distribution can all reduce performance.
CONTROLS
Thermostats & Building Controls
Thermostats, relays, sensors, economizer controls and external control signals can create symptoms that look like equipment failure.
VENTILATION
Outdoor Air & Economizers
Ventilation and economizer operation affect indoor conditions, equipment load and building pressure.
DISTRIBUTION
Ductwork & Balancing
A properly operating RTU still needs adequate duct sizing and distribution to deliver air to the occupied spaces.
DAVESDUCTS APPROACH
Diagnose before replacing the rooftop unit.
We service and repair applicable commercial rooftop units installed by other contractors and can evaluate whether the real issue is equipment-related, airflow-related, control-related or part of the broader mechanical system.
ROOFTOP UNIT REPLACEMENT
Replace the equipment — and make sure the new unit actually fits the building.
A rooftop replacement should consider more than nominal tonnage. Unit selection, curb dimensions, heating capacity, airflow, gas supply, electrical requirements, ventilation, controls and duct connections all need to work together.
Like-for-Like Replacement
Where appropriate, replace an aging packaged RTU with a current unit of suitable capacity and configuration.
Curb & Transition Coordination
Existing roof curbs and duct openings may require an adapter curb, transition or other modifications depending on the replacement unit.
Mechanical Modifications
Gas piping, electrical, controls, condensate, ductwork and ventilation connections may require updates as part of the approved replacement scope.
COMMERCIAL REPLACEMENT PLANNING
Downtime, crane access and site logistics matter.
Commercial rooftop replacements may require crane coordination, roof access, equipment delivery planning, tenant scheduling and temporary shutdowns. These items should be planned before the replacement date.
COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT
Packaged rooftop units for commercial and light-industrial applications.
DAVESDUCTS can provide selected commercial packaged rooftop equipment and replacement options based on project requirements, current availability and support.
YORK
Commercial Rooftop Units
Packaged commercial heating and cooling equipment for suitable replacement and project applications.
GOODMAN / DAIKIN
Packaged Commercial Systems
Commercial packaged equipment options depending on capacity, configuration and current availability.
AMERICAN STANDARD / AIRQUEST
Commercial RTU Options
Additional packaged rooftop-unit options can be considered where they fit the project requirements and available support.
DAVESDUCTS currently discusses rooftop-unit options under approximately 400,000 BTU for applicable commercial and industrial work. Final equipment selection depends on the actual project, load, configuration, availability and code requirements.
COMMERCIAL DUCTWORK & HVAC
The rooftop unit is only one part of the commercial air system.
DAVESDUCTS combines HVAC service with duct-system expertise, which is useful when a commercial complaint involves airflow, distribution, contamination or a mechanical-system modification rather than the RTU alone.
Duct Modifications
Selected supply and return modifications, transitions, repairs and distribution corrections for commercial HVAC systems.
Commercial HVAC Cleaning
NADCA-certified commercial HVAC-system cleaning and inspection where contamination or accumulated debris is part of the concern.
Ventilation & Exhaust
Evaluate applicable outdoor-air, exhaust, make-up-air and related duct-system requirements for commercial spaces.
