WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Most heating and cooling systems today are either forced-air systems (low, mid and high velocity) or hot water (hydronic) systems (radiators, radiant floors and hydronic air handlers). These systems consist of a heating unit (furnace or boiler), a distribution system (ducts and registers, or pipes and radiators), and controls (such as thermostats) that regulate the system.  For cooling, an evaporator coil (indoor unit) and a condenser (outdoor unit) connected with a lineset with refrigerant (R22, 410A or 454B – the new A2L refrigerant).  In instances where there isn’t a distribution system, heating can be supplied by a ductless unit.

In general, all furnaces use the same components from the same manufacturers.  The brands we use really depends on what is available at the time and what preference our customers have, should they have any.

The key to most heating and cooling appliances is availability, support and price.  Warranties are typically 10 years parts (when registered 5 years when not registered); equipment should be maintained annually in order to extend the longevity of your equipment and parts/labour warranties.
